Kalita vineyard from top of row 59

2009 Kalita Pinot Noir

We have been making wine from Kalita Vineyard since 2004, and the fruit keeps getting more complex and rich each year. Kalita Vineyard, owned by Arthur and Sherry Kalita, is a beautiful bowl-shaped vineyard ranging between 400-800’ elevation located in the Yamhill-Carlton district of Oregon. Wine Spectator rated our 2008 Pinot Noir Kalita Vineyard a 92, noting that it is “Light in texture, intense in flavor, with a candied edge to the raspberry, apricot and orange peel notes that sail through the long and vivid finish.”

Dad: Cherries, root beer, plums. Round tannins roll out the long finish.

Fille: I recently bought my first pair of Jimmy Choo strappy sandals. They elevate whatever I am doing to a special occasion. That’s the way this year’s Kalita is- a spirited wine that lifts the evening. It has an aroma of sarsaparilla, taste of sweet cherry and cola, and is accented by lively tannins. It has a Forever Finish of root beer, cola, and a touch of chocolate. It would hold its own to a meal of lamb or short ribs with a hint of cocoa.
